Finding the perfect eyeliner, whether for that hot date or just to look your best and own your aesthetic, can be tough because there are so many out there. One of the top liquid eyeliners is Stila Stay All Day Waterproof Liquid Eye Liner, but it’s got lots of competition with Kat Von D Tattoo Liner. So, which is best in the Stila vs KVD eyeliner debate?
We’re going to compare these to see which is better between KVD vs Stila eyeliner. They’ll be reviewed based on feel, application, colors, if they’re waterproof, and any other differences that we can find.
Read on to see which eyeliner meets your needs.
Stila vs KVD: Feel
This is very important whether we’re talking about Stila vs Kat Von D eye liner or any other brand (or any other makeup for that matter). You don’t want something that feels heavy, lumpy, and irritating to your eyes. Not only is it uncomfortable, but it throws off your whole look.
So, how do these eyeliners feel once you put them on?
Both are lightweight, highly pigmented eyeliners that go on smooth and stay there. They dry fairly quickly and shouldn’t smudge if you touch them (though you should avoid touching, but you know that by now). Not only do they dry quick and go on smooth, but they also look fantastic.
While they are similar, we’ll say the Stila All Day Eyeliner feels a little richer and better on the skin. It’s only by a little though, so both are fine. If you have strong feelings for one brand or the other, then you’re in good hands either way. We’ll say that they are pretty similar here with Stila being just a bit better.
KVD vs Stila: Application
An essential part of any eyeliner review is the application. There’s nothing worse than makeup that’s hard to apply, especially when we’re talking around the eyes. You want the makeup to be simple to use so that you can quickly put it on and get on with your day.
When it comes to Stila Stay All Day Waterproof Liquid Eye Liner vs Kat Von D Tattoo Liner, both of these are pencil eyeliners that are very easy to apply. The have precise, accurate points for perfect lines. Just remove the cap, go around your eye line, and you’re all finished.
We found both were pretty equal in this regard. Neither really outshined the other, and it should only take one or two passes until you have enough on your eyes. It’s quick, fast, and painless (as long as you don’t jab your eye, be careful!).
It’s another tie between them.
While these two sections have basically been ties, we suggest checking the next ones, because that’s when the differences become more apparent.
Both of these are highly pigmented and super saturated, but there is a big difference in the number of colors that you can choose from. This might be one of the most important sections here as there is a huge difference between them.
KVD eyeliner comes in two colors:
- KVD Tattoo Trooper Black
- KVD Tattoo Mad Max Brown
We love the names, and these colors are really dark, but we were disappointed there was only two. They are two of the best blacks and browns we’ve ever seen, but the selection is limited.
Stila on the other hand comes in nine colors and three tip styles. That blows KVD out of the water, and it ensures that you have more choices. The tips are:
- Stila Eyeliner Original
- Stila Eyeliner Original Tip
- Stila Eyeliner Intense
The nine colors you can choose from are:
- Stila Alloy
- Stila Rich Chocolate
- Stila Intense Black
- Stila Intense Jade
- Stila Intense Labradorite
- Stila Intense Smoky Quartz
- Stila Midnight
- Stila Paradise Pink
- Stila White
Some people prefer the KVD Tattoo Eyeliner colors and we can see why, they’re even more saturated than Stila, but the small selection is a big issue. Stila wins this section with ease.
There are pros and cons to waterproof eyeliner. The benefit of course is that you don’t have to worry about the makeup prematurely fading from water (which we think is great for any makeup around the eye). At the same time, it tends to be a little harder to get off when you’re done for the day.
Stila Waterproof Stay All Day Eye Liner is waterproof, as you can imply from the name. This ensures that it lasts all day and you won’t have to worry about it coming off in the rain or if you happen to get water on your face.
Kat Von D Eyeliner Tattoo on the other hand is not waterproof. It’s smudge resistant and should have some staying power even when wet, but it’s going to run and come off after a while. At the same time, this makes it easier to remove when that time comes.
So, which is better between Stila vs KVD eyeliner? We think Stila is better here because we prefer having waterproof makeup, but those who disagree might prefer KVD.
What are the Differences Between Stila and KVD Eyeliner?
Curious about the differences between KVD and Stila eyeliner? At the beginning of our review they seemed almost identical, but then we started seeing the differences appearing when we talked about color and whether they’re waterproof.
We also compared Stila to other great brands, check them out here:
They are both very similar when it comes to feel and application. While we thought that Stila felt a little better around the eyes, they are incredibly similar and both are fantastic. The application is the same as well. They have precise points to ensure you don’t miss anything. You also have control over the whole process, ensuring that you shouldn’t accidentally poke your eye.
However, there is a big difference between them when we look at colors. While many like the KVD Tattoo colors because they are so saturated, there aren’t many to choose from. Stila is also very saturated, but there are nine to choose from.
Also, Stila is waterproof while KVD isn’t. We prefer Stila in this regard, but if you don’t like waterproof makeup, then you KVD might be better.
So, who wins the battle between Stila eyeliner vs KVD eyeliner? It’s very close in many ways, so let’s focus on the differences. While both are fantastic, Stila offers more colors while KVD’s colors tend to be very popular because they are even more saturated. Stila is waterproof while KVD seems to only resist the water a little before coming off.
Overall, we think the winner here is Stila, but we can see why many would prefer KVD. It has a strong following and we can’t blame you if you love this brand. We suggest giving Stila a try and seeing if it’s the right one for you. You might be surprised by how wonderful it is.
